Fix It Without AI

A few days later, the AI is off. Can you still fix one piece yourself?

By the end of this lesson you will have — the "What I fixed without AI" box filled on Card #1 or #2: what you changed by hand, and why, in one line

What you'll show at the end: Card #1 or #2 with the What I fixed without AI box filled: a Before line, an After line you wrote by hand, and one line on what you changed and why.

Check each tool's age rule before you sign up. If you are under 13, ask a parent first — some tools here are 13+ only.

Follow these steps

  1. Wait at least 2 days after Card #1 or #2. Open your Story Cards document in Google Docs. Close every AI tab and turn off any AI writing help in your apps before you start.
  2. Pick one piece of the result to fix by hand: one paragraph, one table cell, or one line of code. Write what 'fixed' will look like in one line, then lock a prediction: what will be hardest to fix without help? Copy the piece as it is now and label it Before.
  3. Fix it yourself. Paste your new version under it and label it After. In What I fixed without AI, write one line: what you changed and why. Write the reason, not the number of changes.
  4. Only after your After is written, you may copy the question from the box next to these steps into the AI you use (check its age rule first). It may point out problems, but it does not rewrite your line. Keep or throw away each point, and write why. No AI you can use? Check the sample AI answer on this page.

No Card #1 or #2 yet? Fix this Before by hand:

Before: "Join the Chess Club! Last year we won the regional championship, so learn from the best! Our first meeting is Tuesday at 3:30 in Room 12. Beginners are welcome."

It has one made-up claim, and the most important news is not first. Write your After, then one line on what you changed and why.
